What YOU should have in order to cope with being admin:
Knowledge and experience in dA group interface (optional)
This is not a must but it does come in handy. We all see submissions through our own account's Correspondence page but that's not enough. Sometimes, submissions are left to expire by accident because an admin pushed the wrong button. I know we are just people but if there's a way we can stop this from happening, a person that has knowledge in dA group interface can definitely help here. Of course, there are other situations we may encounter in the future but that's what that knowledge is all about.
Very good grasp of what-should-go-where Depictions of:
- Original characters belong to Original folders
- Fan art belong to FanArt folders
- Male characters belong to Guy folders
- Female characters belong to Girls folders
- Couples belong to Couples folders
- Group belong to Group folders
- etc., etc.
Just one look at our gallery and everything should be crystal clear. Common sense, people. Need I say more? //faceshovel
A sense of morality is also needed! Believe it or not, we still have a good amount of innocent souls in our midst. This group does not accept porn, hate art, gore or too much violence. I know the internet is full of these stuff but the least we at Pinoy-Anime-Artists could do to make the world a little bit better is to not have them in our gallery. Action scenes are fine but mutilation is not. Get the idea?
Extra "extra" free time on your handsI've reduced the submission limit from 1-per-day to 1x-per-week but we still get large batches piling up, some of which have already expired (Sorry about that ). If you'd love to be an admin here, you gotta have an extra to your already extra free time. Let's face it. You may either be student or working professional or SBL, whatever, but your extra free time goes to favor everything else outside of that -- friends, family, loved ones, even to pets and other favorite past times. The moment you get here on dA, you might already be too tired to handle the submissions and that's not very good, especially for your own health.
A lot of patience + a healthy doze of firmnessWe, Filipinos, are born a smart @ss (a.k.a. pilosopo). We're prone to make jokes out of anything and we don't mind making a fool of ourselves or of other people just for "the fun of it" without so much of a thought as to what the other person/s would feel. A lot of patience will be needed in order to handle this sort of attitude.
The same patience should also apply when handling submissions and, of course, members who I generally consider trolls -- or those who, for whatever reason, would rather fight and disrespect the admin he's talking to instead of follow the admin's instruction. You as an admin should also know when to keep your cool, when to use your authority, when to stand your ground (without power-playing), and when to give up and let the member "win" without making everything personal between yourselves. After all, you can always remove his artwork submission and block him from the group ~bwahahaha!! //nobabythatsbad
But seriously, if someone is being too far and you feel utterly disrespected by them, you can request for us to block them from this group. Provide evidence and justify your request. Screenshot your conversation/s with them before they hide/edit their comment or delete their artwork or whatever. Remember: We got your back and you're not alone.
What you will do when accepted:
( 1 ) Accept correct gallery submissions.
( 2 ) If declining wrong gallery submissions, always tell the member where to submit correctlyThings should always be submitted to the right folder. This is what prompted me to cancel auto-submissions and hire new admins in the first place. Seriously. You cannot just expect people to submit where they should nowadays.
Do not just accept or decline submissions on a whim. You can preview it from the thumbnail but sometimes, the preview is just a decoy. When in doubt, it's important that you check them first.
Do not just decline without correcting the member's mistake, otherwise, he'll just think that we don't like his artwork in our gallery or, worse, he'll repeat the same mistake in his next submissions.
As of this blog, LyricaLupin has already cleared up most of the submissions, but again, she and I are just two people so we definitely need all the help we can have! When you get accepted as new admin, please proceed to the oldest page in the admin area and help us out. If you can't access the admin area, wait for new submissions in your Correspondence page so they won't be added to the backlog.
( 3 ) Update the Members BDAY List journal
( 4 ) Participate in admin discussions to share ideas (if there's any)
( 5 ) Help answer members' questions
( 6 ) Bring members up-to-speed regarding group changes and updates.
If you're absolutely 100% sure you want to be an admin here, please
send a note to the group with the following information:
1. If you've had prior administrative experience, briefly describe a problem you ran into and your solution for solving the problem (optional for applicants who are not admin of any groups)
2. How often will you be able to check submissions?
3. What gadgets do you use to check submissions (desktop computer, laptop, phone, tablet, etc.)?
4. What new idea(s) do you hope to bring to the group (contests, group chats, EBs, etc.)?
You can
send the note in Filipino or in English, either way is fine.
Admin Activity
-- will be checked at random to make sure that submissions are handled not just by the same admin or admins over and over.
Except for founder and co-founders, inactive admins will be demoted as members with or without telling them about the demotion. Chances are, the demoted admins won't even notice. This will free some space in the admin area and give more eager members something they deserve.
If you're going on hiatus or simply unable to check submissions because someone else always handles them ahead of you, you can let all the admins know by
starting a new forum in the admin area or by sending
a note to the group so all of us can read it.
If you got demoted and want to return as admin, you can always return of course as long as the admin positions are still available. Just send a note with the above details just like everyone else (don't copy-paste from your previous note please, I'll check), and of course do your part.
I will leave this Want Ad journal open as long as I'm founder. That way, more people can help manage the group and we can increase the submission limit.
